# Assign lot aging profiles

You can assign a lot aging profile to an item category. When the program determines a lot aging category for an item lot, it uses the lot aging profile assigned to the relevant item category. Set up the relevant lot aging profiles before performing this activity.

## Steps

1. In the search box, enter **Item Categories**, and then choose the related link.
2. Select the item category that will have a lot aging profile.
3. In the **Lot Age Profile Code** field, select the desired lot aging profile code.
4. Repeat the procedure for each item category.
