# Assign a maintenance trade code to employees

You can assign one maintenance trade code to each employee, and then enter employees in the maintenance labour journal when recording the labour performed for a work order. The program enters the internal hourly rate for the assigned maintenance trade in the journal lines. Set up the relevant maintenance trades before performing this activity.

## Steps

1. In the search box, enter **Employees**, and then choose the related link.
2. Open the relevant employee card for an employee that will have a maintenance trade.
3. On the **General** FastTab, in the **Maintenance Trade Code** field, select the appropriate code and choose **OK**.
4. Repeat the procedure for each relevant employee.
