# Add a production order

You can use the **Daily Production Planning** page to add new production orders. Create new production orders to deal with anticipated shortages in manufactured items or to use up an excess quantity of on-hand raw materials.

## Steps

1. In the search box, enter **Daily Production Planning**, and then choose the related link.
2. Select the line displaying the item for which you want to create the production order.
3. On the **Actions** tab, in the **General** group, choose **Add Order**.
4. On the **Daily Prod. Planning-Order** page, fill in the fields.
5. Choose **OK**.

The production order is added to the **Daily Production Planning** page as a pending production order. The anticipated impact on scheduled production activities and item availability is displayed in red.
